Peach Software is Multi Bin Location ready. This introduction explains 4 variations so you can choose the one which best suits your business. Once you have chosen one, call support and discuss prior to changing any settings, as there is some preparation required.

Simple Bin Locations

Each Product has 1 Primary Bin Location

Example

A Retail Shop has Gondolas, Wall Displays and Shelves for Hard Parts, all with Bin Locations. In this instance you may not have Bulk stock

Details

When you Receive or Sell goods, the Products enter and leave this “Primary” location. Useful for Locating, Stocktaking, Labelling and off course Finding products to Restock or Sell.

If you run more than one Stock Area such as a second Branch, Van, Reps Stock or Consignment stock then each of these areas can have their own locations.

Multi Bin Locations – Holding Only

Each Product has 1 Primary Bin Location and other uncontrolled locations.

Example

Your business may have products with a Primary Location such as in the showroom, and additional Locations such as a store room or small warehouse which displays the Bin Location Code and indicative Qty’s.

Details

When you Receive or Sell goods, Products still enter and leave by the “Primary” location, however, you can list other locations where the bulk stock may be kept and a Qty. This is handy since when a shelf hook goes empty, you can quickly check the other location “Out the Back”

In the Holding only mode only the primary location records actual stock qty’s. You can enter an indicative number into the alternate locations, but you cannot transfer real stock to or from them and they are only used for an informative reference.

Multi Bin Locations – Synchronised

Each Product has Unlimited Synchronised Bin Locations

Example

Your business has products in a Primary Bin Location such as the showroom or picking bays, and additional stock in other Locations such as your bulk warehouse.

Details

Stock is Received into and invoiced out of the Primary location only, but unlike the Holding Only method, Your other locations are kept in Sync as you transfer stock from one area to another using the Product Locations Screen or a PDA. So when your showroom or picking Bin location is exhausted, you can quickly identify additional stock in other bin locations throughout your warehouse. When moving stock between Bin Locations you must update these movements in Peach via the Locations Screen or the PDA.

If you are using a PDA then the Move App allows you to move stock quickly between these locations and the Stock Take application can identify what stock is in a selected location, or identify the location of selected stock. You can pick from alternate locations and move stock back into this location as a daily procedure to restore the correct Qty.

Multi Bin Locations – Synchronised and Allocated

Each Product has Unlimited Synchronised Locations

Example

Your business has products in a Primary Bin Location such as the showroom or picking bays, and additional stock in other Locations such as your bulk warehouse.

Details

Unlike the previous methods you can now Receive goods into Selected Bins (PDA Required) and Pick/Invoice goods from any locations. You can also transfer stock between any of the locations using the Product Locations Screen, or a PDA. This is handy since when the stock in the Picking Location is insufficient the software will take you to a more suitable location to pick from providing the most logical path and Bins based on the Quantity.

This method tracks your stock through all locations so you'll always know where your stock is as long as you record movements using the location screen or PDA. If you don't these locations will be inaccurate.

If you are using a PDA then the process of Receiving is simplified and more versatile. You can receipt stock into the Primary location or a Holding location temporarily until all your orders have been picked and then pack goods in their regular locations when convenient using the PDA Move Application. The PDA will also use the most Logical bin to Pick from based on the path and Qty required.
